Emergency Medicine
Administration Fellowship
The Emergency Medicine Administration Fellowship at Florida Kendall Hospital in Miami, Florida is a one-year program designed to train two (2) fellows beginning July 1st. The program provides formal training to emergency medicine graduate residents to become competent, knowledgeable and effective medical directors in any emergency department.
Florida Kendall Hospital is a tertiary care center, Level 1 Trauma Center, Burn and Reconstructive Care Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Cardiac Center. Partnered with Envision Physician Services, the largest emergency physician staffing company in the nation, Florida Kendall Hospital has an intrinsic and unique environment for administrative and leadership professional development.
Program Objectives
The program is designed to prepare fellows for leadership roles and develop skills that include:

Review and understand emergency department efficiency and its relation with patient throughput metrics and national benchmarks.

Develop health policy as it relates to emergency care.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead quality improvement projects.

Understanding financial metrics and identifying ways to optimize operational and financial performance.

Acquire foundations for QA/QI projects, performance improvement processes and patient safety protocols through interdepartmental meetings in the role of an assistant medical director.

Serve as clinical faculty for the KRMC Emergency Medicine Residency and medical students, providing lectures and oversight of Emergency Medicine Administration elective.
Fellowship goals are to assist all fellows in pursuing leadership positions after completion of the program.

Fellow Expectations
The fellow will act as an emergency medicine attending, emergency department assistant medical director and clinical instructor for the residents and medical students.
Fellows are required to participate in all aspects of emergency department operations including:

Recruiting and hiring new physicians

Credentialing process

Contracts and budgeting
-
Medical Operations Review meeting
-
QA/QI Committee
-
Trauma Quality Committee
-
HCA East Division Process Improvement meeting

HCA East Division Directors meeting
-
Clinical Task Forces (e.g. Sepsis, Stroke, STEMI, Patient Satisfaction, Ethics)
Fellow Benefits
Clinical Compensation: Fellows are expected to work 80 clinical hours per month. Base salary of approximately $100,000 with opportunities for internal moon lighting.

Educational Stipend: Educational allowance per year for academic and professional involvements such as professional membership fees, national conferences, licensure, certifications, board review and examination.

Board certified or eligible Emergency Medicine Physician from ACGME accredited emergency medicine residency.

Letter of intent. Letters should include interests, goals and expectations from the program and strengths you would bring to the program.
